What do the service patterns mean?
- Turn up and go
- The median service on each leg, plus half the average gap between services. What someone actually experiences arriving at the station without checking a timetable. The most honest answer for "what is this commute like?"
- Planned journey
- A quicker-than-average service and a short waiting buffer, because you looked the times up. Sits between the other two.
- Best case
- The quickest service on the route, assuming you timed your arrival perfectly and never waited. This matches TravelTime's three-hour search range, which is how the existing Compton reports were produced — so use it when numbers need to line up with previous work. Be aware it can read around half the real journey time on infrequent routes.
The ranking between properties is much the same whichever you pick — every option is measured the same way. The choice changes the absolute minutes shown to a client.
